Sharon Savoy



Sharon Savoy is an icon in the world of Theatre Arts and the Exhibition field of Ballroom Dance Sport. Her graceful musicality combined with spectacular lifts and tricks created a competition career that spanned an unprecedented 21 years. She began her dance training under George Balanchine at the School of American Ballet in New York and later won her first World Exhibition title at the Madison Square Gardens in 1984 - 20 years later ended her competitive career by winning with all first place votes at the 2004 World Exhibition Dance Championships. Sharon's championship partners include- Rufus Dustin, Arte Philips and David Savoy.

Sharon Savoy is also the author of the ballroom industry's first behind- the- scenes- perspective - "Ballroom! Obsession and Passion Inside the World of Competitive Dance." UPF 2010

She has performed in Hollywood movies - such as Mel Brooks, "Dracula - Dead and Loving It!", on the Miss America Pageant, at the Kennedy Center and the Sydney Olympics. Among her many titles are: 3X World Exhibition Dance Champion, 4X Blackpool Exhibition Champion and 3X Star Search Winner.

She has also hosted and performed on telvision shows such as: 'Your Source TV' in 2010, Co-hosted two European Dancesport Shows, Miss America, Entertainment Tonight, Regis and Kathy Lee, PBS, Eurosport (Paris), Russia, China, Taiwan, Australia, Germany, France, Japan, England, Italy, and South America. And was a Speciality Dancer in Mel Brooks, "Dracula - Dead and Loving It!"

Sharon recently coached the ballet couple, White Tree Fine Art, to the finals of Paula Abdul's show, "Live to Dance". Besides coaching Exhibition Dance Sport, Ice Dance and Pairs Skating, Sharon also teaches Gyrotonics, an exercise system that strengthens the body while increasing range of motion. She is fully versed in the both ballroom and Latin dances. Her coaching method integrates the principles of ballet, ballroom and jazz.
